Day one on our Peru trip is a travel day from Lexington KY to Lima Peru. Airport security, six hours on a plane and no AC but with all of our luggage and people in tact!
Day two takes us from our hotel in Lima to Tarapoto Peru where we will base for most of the trip. More airport challenges, the Rat's Mouth hotel and our first dinner in Peru. I've never seen so many motorcycles!
On day 3 we travel from Tarapoto to Chazuta where we get out first ride on the river boats to the small village of llucanayacu. We start our construction, dental, medical, eyeglasses and sewing missions there. Lunch is surprisingly normal and I realize I'm in the AMAZON.
Second part of our day four adventure in the small village of Tupac Amaru Peru. In this episode we show you what the children's program looks like. Very similar to a Vacation Bible School (VBS) in the United States we play games, hear a Bible story and complete arts and crafts.
The construction team returns to Llucanaycu to work on walls for their new church. The rest of the Go International team take the boat further downstream while we are left to fend for our selves. There are structural problems with the hotel and Tarapoto electricians have it tough.
Our final day in Tarapoto. We finish up on the construction project in Llucanayacu while the medical, dental, sewing, eyeglasses and children ministry work in Chazuta. Pastor Adan invites us back to his church for a meal that almost reminds us home. We end the day with a special service and worship.
We start our day in Tarapoto at the Boca Raton but end it in Lima at the hotel Gran Bolivar. Most of the day is travel but of course there is always time to eat and take in some sights. Ashley has double trouble with her travels.
