Wednesday, February 27 - Acts of kindness
The small acts of kindness we showed to the Peruvians this past week was not unnoticed. No matter how much we contributed to the day, God was watching. Even though we were there to bless the people, we were blessed also.
There’s something about going on a mission trip that puts such an inspiring spirit in me. It places a longing in me. It brings out the good and puts an urgency in me to want to give them everything I have.
Just as Jesus told His disciples, in order to walk with Him, you must deny yourselves. In order to walk with Jesus, you sometimes need to give up things you normally couldn’t do without. Warm shower? Convenient toilet? Air conditioning? Mosquito free evening?
All of the above, we did without. I can honestly say I didn’t hear one of my team members complain. Yes, we joked around about the cold showers, but that was worth a child’s smile; an old man’s hug who just traveled 3 days to get to us. It was worth a mother with kids around her, looking at us and saying ‘bless you.’
Step out today and perform an act of kindness to a stranger. Yes, it may seem awkward, but oh the blessings that are possible from this small act of kindness.
Ephesians 4:32 - “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
