Give.

It hit me as I took in the line of people waiting to get food. These people are desperate, still God provides. Some of these people you would never notice at the grocery store or post office, yet these are people you pass on the street or in your own town. As I looked over the crowd, my only thought was, ‘what brought them here?’ They probably didn’t start out life coming to the food bank, so what shifted in their lives to come to this point?

Jesus tells us to take care of the hungry; the needy, and I am glad to be a part of a church who does just that. Providing free clothing and food twice a week is a way of shining our light in this community, this city.

When we serve others, we are serving Christ. We all seem to take advantage of the fact that we can go home and open the refrigerator and eat whatever is in there. Some people open their empty refrigerator and wonder when their next meal will come.

The next time you are starting to feel like you have a million problems and life just isn’t going your way, GIVE! Give your time, your resources and your love to help others. You’ll be glad you did.

God blesses those who bless others. Reach out and give today.

Hebrews 13:16 - “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
