Break down to build up.
About twenty years ago, I really got into restoring old furniture. It was fun to take a worn out old table and turn it into something beautiful.
The first step in restoration is to grind down the original finish to wood and build it back up by smoothing and polishing.
This same restoring is taking place with Christians today. We give our life to Christ and then someone comes along and tries to break us down with false accusations; made up lies. They attack our character, thinking they are harming our reputation as a Godly person. Quite the contrary. We know that these attacks are from satan and our defense is stronger than any arrows the devil can throw our way.
We serve a mighty God who holds us up through the battles, who defends us in the current situation and the One who has already won the war.
So the next time someone goes attacking you, trying to break you, know that God is building you up in His kingdom. They may try to tear you down, but God is there to pick you up.
Restoration is a beautiful thing in the life of a Christian. When we give our life to Christ, we are made new. The power to restore is within our hearts, we just need to believe in the One who created us.
Psalm 80:3 - “Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.”
