Saturday, February 23 - Speak love

Started the day early with a devotion by one of the team members, then headed up the road to where we would eat breakfast each day.

Our cook, Hilda cooked us a wonderful breakfast each day of eggs and other Peruvian favorites. After breakfast we gathered our supplies and headed to the school, where we would be doing our mission work for the next 4 days.

We setup the eyeglass clinic; the dental clinic; an area for the two Peruvian doctors; an area for our nurse to check in each person and send them to the right clinic. The girls setup an area on the soccer field for the kids to play and an area for VBS. We setup a make-shift Pharmacy with several medicines and supplies. We were ready for them. In the eyeglass clinic, we had the local pastor ready to pray for anyone that came through.

With our translators dispersed throughout the clinics, we opened the doors. The Peruvians had lined up in front of the school and were eager to come in.

As they came into the eyeglass clinic (where I was), they sat patiently waiting just to get eyeglasses. Through our translator, Allan, I felt I was able to connect to each of them. Some of their stories on just how they got there were overwhelming to think about. One guy had traveled 3 days. 3 days, just to get to us. They had heard on the radio that we were coming to Boca Colorado and they wanted a chance to get there to either see the dentist, doctor, or to just get eyeglasses. Allan would ask each one if they had Jesus in their life. Most would smile and say yes. Others hesitantly looked down and then Allan would ask if we could pray with them. They were so receptive in so many ways. I later heard that we had over 60 conversions during our stay.

I learned a lot the first day. First, I learned that no matter what I was doing that day, it was designed and appointed by God. I was where I needed to be.

Don’t underestimate your purpose in life. If you look to God to arrange your life, you’ll never have an uneventful day.

Everyone can speak love, without ever saying a word.
