The American dream.
How many of us, early in life, set our sights on the American dream; you know, the spouse, kids, a house with a picket fence?
It’s good to have goals and even dreams of what you think life should look like. But, what if it’s not what God has planned for you?
My favorite verse in the Bible is found in Jeremiah 29:11. In this verse, God tells us He has plans for us to prosper, giving us hope and a future. Some may think that this means they can just sit back and let God do all the work, so they can just cruise along in life. That is not the case.
Did you know that God had a plan for you and me, even before we were born?
Quit focusing on what others have that you don’t. God’s plan will look different from your neighbor’s, so just because you didn’t get the job you wanted, it may mean that God’s got something better for you.
Envy, at its core, comes from the lack of belief that God is all powerful, cares about you deeply and has wonderful plans for your life.
Find the peace that only God can give, and acknowledge His dream for you may be better than anything you could plan yourself.
Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
