Slander.
Have you ever had someone tell lies about you; someone who just makes up stuff to benefit themselves?
Slander is akin to stepping into God’s place as the only judge and telling Him (God) to move over, you’ve got this.
It really used to bother me when someone would be so deceitful and hurtful towards me, but then I realized that hurting people intentionally hurt other people. What did I do? The only thing I knew how; I started praying for that person. That’s our only weapon in this war we Christians face every day. You see, each time they tear me down, my God builds me up.
The Bible says in Proverbs 19:9 that “a false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies shall perish.”
Pathological and compulsive liars will believe their own lies, or they may lie to appear heroic or even the victim.
When people say untruths about others, they’re insulting God’s children. They may try to break us down, but if we’re strong in our relationship with God, no amount of words or actions against us can move our faith or damage our character.
Love God, love others, and pray for the broken hearted.
Revelations 21:8 - “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
