Perseverance.
Perseverance is the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition. Some may even call it stubbornness; the ability to keep going even though it’s hard.
I think perseverance is an attribute of every day of a Christian’s life. Our lives are filled with challenges, roadblocks and just difficult people coming onto our path. Yet, we carry on. Why? Because we know that Jesus was persecuted too. Yet, despite all His trials, Jesus loved us enough to die for all of humanity.
If it wasn’t for my own perseverance when hiking the amazon jungle to reach a remote village, I would not have made the sixteen mile hike needed to reach and witness to the people living so far away from society. Our team made it and despite all the muddy trails and hot day, we were welcomed into their village. That was one of the most memorable mission trips I ever experienced.
You could say that perseverance is silencing your body when it starts to complain.
Fellow Christian, keep on keeping on. Fight until the finish. The battle rages daily but our victory in Jesus reminds us that He’s already won the war.
2 Chronicles 15:7 - “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
