Selfish interests
As Christians, we are supposed to regard others more important than ourselves. But, do we do this?
Selfishness can be described in various ways, but it mainly boils down to building up oneself while tearing down someone else. I was so guilty of this in my rebellious years as a young Christian. It took me years to realize this, but now, with God at my side, I aspire to be humble; to give more of myself to others, including my time and money.
In order to maintain this selfless attitude we, as Christians, must be in prayer and read the scriptures daily. We must have the attitude of Christ and demonstrate tenderness and compassion for all those we come in contact with.
The reality is that we're all susceptible to greed, including an unwillingness to give someone our time.
Take time today to bless someone you meet, or someone you see every day. Take time to listen to them. Let them tell you their story, and if possible, tell them yours.
Be selfless, not selfish today.
Philippians 2:4 - "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
