Do you have a heart condition?

How's your heart attitude?  Do you go around angry and bitter; holding onto unforgiveness and hurtful situations?  Do you have a pure heart?

To be pure in heart means to be blameless in who we actually are.  As Christians, our heart must be desiring to please God.  A pure heart has no hidden motives.

The only way we can truly be pure in heart is to give our lives to Jesus, totally surrender your heart to Him.  Ask Him to do the cleansing work.

How's your heart today?  Full of love and mercy?

Check your heart daily.  Desire to please God.

Matthew 5:8 – "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

Want a worry-free life?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a worry-free life?  Well, those of us who are Christians will have this type of life someday, in Heaven.  But, while we're living on this earth, there will be  heartaches and worry.

Matthew 6:33 – "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need."

The way I interpret the above verse is that I need to put God first in my life.  That means before anyone and anything else.  This means putting God in the number one position.  When we do this and allow God's Will to be first in our life, then we will see things happen that we never imaged could happen.

Yes, it's human nature to worry, but don't let it consume you.  After all, worry is coming from Satan himself.  He knows that if he can distract you with worry, he's taking you away from seeking the Kingdom.

Our hearing from God must result in doing

Our hearing of the Word of God (Bible) must result in doing.  We must do what God says, with complete faith to Him.

Are you reading your Bible daily?  Are you taking it seriously?  Do you have a reverence for Scripture and the time that you worship and study this Word from God?

God will speak to each of His children through Scripture.

In order for any relationship to work, it takes good and effective communication.  And for effective communication to occur, there must be effective listening. This also holds true with our relationship to God.  If we rarely talk to God, then how is He going to really know us?

Tell God your desires. Trust that what He says in the Bible is the truth.

Just like any instructional manual, use the Bible (DAILY) to help guide you and to help you in making decisions throughout the day.

Romans 10:17 – "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

Are you faithful in silent times?

If you have been a Christian very long, you will have periods where it seems God is nowhere to be found.  You seem to be in a dry spell, spiritually.

It's hard to be still and wait on God.  Admit it.  We all hate to wait, on anything.  But, I've realized that some of the biggest moves in my life happened during these dry seasons, when it seemed like God was doing nothing in my life.

Know this.  God is ALWAYS in control, even though the evidence isn't visible.  Times of silence may be filled with fear.  Realize that these times require more faith, more trust in God.

Dry seasons don't last forever.  Some day soon God is going to make His plans known to you.  It may come through His Word, your circumstances, or another person, but they will come.

Stay faithful friends.  God's Will and His plan for your life is taking place and it will all be for God's Glory.  It won't be because of your circumstances, but because of your faith.

Psalm 62:5 - "For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from Him."

Selfish interests

As Christians, we are supposed to regard others more important than ourselves.  But, do we do this?

Selfishness can be described in various ways, but it mainly boils down to building up oneself while tearing down someone else.  I was so guilty of this in my rebellious years as a young Christian.  It took me years to realize this, but now, with God at my side, I aspire to be humble; to give more of myself to others, including my time and money.

In order to maintain this selfless attitude we, as Christians, must be in prayer and read the scriptures daily.  We must have the attitude of Christ and demonstrate tenderness and compassion for all those we come in contact with.

The reality is that we're all susceptible to greed, including an unwillingness to give someone our time.

Take time today to bless someone you meet, or someone you see every day.  Take time to listen to them.  Let them tell you their story, and if possible, tell them yours.

Be selfless, not selfish today.

Philippians 2:4 - "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Stressed?

Stressed - We're all guilty of it, especially this time of year.  Although scripture doesn't really talk about stress specifically, it does speak of things such as anxiety and worry; things we often associate with stress.

Everyone suffers from stress at some point in their lives, it's inevitable.  It's how we deal with the stress depends in large part on who we are.  Some tend to let stress take over their life and get physically ill from it.

The solution to stress is to surrender (give up) our cares to God.  Seek His wisdom in what to do.  We shouldn't be defeated by stress if we know and trust God.

If you're stressing about money, don't forget that God is our provider.  If you're stressing about a hardship or trial you're going through, know that God's got this.  Trust that He already has a plan on getting us through, and coming out on the other side even better.

When we start to focus our attention to God, and let God take care of the situation or circumstance, that's when He gives us the strength we need.  It's here that God shows His power, when we're at our weakest moments.

Being stressed or worried tells God that you're not trusting in Him; that you've lost control.

Seek God's peace daily.  Fill your mind with scripture.  Rest assured that it is only by His grace, mercy, and love that the stress in our lives can be managed.

John 14:27 - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  Not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

Power of surrender

God demands a total surrender if  we want to follow Him.  He required it of the disciples in biblical times, and He requires it of each one of His children today.  Let God become the ruler of your life.  God knows the plans for each of our lives.  But in order to totally surrender, you can't hold anything back.

I know that we live in a 'quick fix,' "I want it now" society, but you can't have both God and the world.  For a Christian, there's a constant battle going on inside us.  One is God, and the other is Satan.  Don't let the devil corrupt your mind; captivate your thoughts.

Surrender your thoughts, your body, your soul and your time to God.

Be careful.  Our motive for surrender should not be for any personal gain.  To totally surrender to God, daily, we have to put God before anyone and anything else.  If we do this, give all our cares and surrender totally to God, He can mold us into who He created us to be, to do what He created us to do, so we can have everything He says we can have.

Give it to God today and feel the power of surrender!

James 4:10 - "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you."

Does God have your attention?

Distraction from God is extremely dangerous.  I've found in my walk with God through the years that if I'm not careful, I can lose sight of God and get thrown off course.

It's so easy to be distracted by the world these days and to get out of God's Will.  We find ourselves (myself included) using all of our time doing things that are just mere distractions.  Then, when we finally get to bed and ready to go to sleep, we throw up a few minutes of prayer.

Don't give God your leftovers.  Give Him the first, the last and all of your day's attention.  The more you focus on yourself, the more distracted you will be from the proper path you need to follow.

God didn't create us to live a distracted life.  He created us to live a Jesus-infused life!

If you don't attend to God, He will get your attention!

1 Corinthians 10:13 - "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
